* To subjects completing the substantial knowledge in preparing to teach nature are proposed the following courses (They require 325 hours apart from the above-mentioned subjects): from obligatory courses at geography: Environmental chemistry 30 hour; Physics 30 hours; Astronomical prnciples of geography 30 hours; Biogeography 30 hours; Principles of environment shaping and protection 60 hours; Environment of the Silesian Upland and surroundings 30 hours (what give 210 hours); from electives: Nature education 15 hours; Methods of landscape research 15 hours; Nature protection 15 hours; Science on geosystems 15 hours; Methods of carrying out field workshops 15 hours (what gives 75 hours) and new course Values of regions in Poland 30 hours.

Assumptions and objectives of the course:

Repetitory and new program contents to apply them at further stages of geographical studies. Ability to use mathematical and statistical description of phenomena and spatial processes in geography.

Content:

Linear algebra: matrices, operations on matrices, determinant, nonsingular matrix, inverse, system of linear equations with nonsingular matrix, Cramer’s rule, Gauss elimination, arbitrary system of linear equations, theorem of Kronecker-Capelli, eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrix.

Mathematical analysis: limit of sequence, number series, limit and continuity of a function of one variable, derivative of a function of one variable, definite and indefinite integral, basic properties, integration by parts and by substitution, applications of integral calculus in statistics and physics, differential calculus of functions of several variables, maximum and minimum value of a function in a set, conditional extremes, examples of applications in statistics and economics.

Probability theory: probability space, classical probability and its applications to geographic, conditional probability, independent events, random variables and its characteristics, independent random variable’s, examples of discrete and continuous probability distributions, Chebyshev’s inequality, central theorems and its applications in statistics

Statistics: data analysis, basic statistical ideas and notions, point estimation, confidence intervals, parametric tests, nonparametric tests, sample linear regression, multiple linear regression model.
