Assumptions and objectives of the course:

Knowledge of fundamentals of meteorology and climatology, obtain of skill in providing the measurements and observations on the meteorological station, using the meteorological data (from the yearbooks and databases), and interpretation of synoptic maps. Knowledge of climate differentiation (climate types), its changes and influence on the health of men, management and geographical environment

Content:

The place of meteorology in geophysical sciences. Theoretical fundamentals of selected problems in meteorology and climatology: definitions, organisation of meteorological network, World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The method of measures and observations: meteorological and aerological stations, satellite and radar remote sensing. Vertical structure of the Earth atmosphere. Solar radiation and heat balance. Air temperature. Water in the atmosphere, air humidity, clouds, precipitation and other atmospheric phenomena. Pressure field and the wind, dynamics of the atmosphere. Atmospheric circulation. The main classification of circulation types. Fundamentals in synoptic meteorology and weather forecasts, Climate and climatic system, climatic factors, climatic elements and other definitions. Regional climatology – climate types on the Earth. Climatic zones and vertical division of mountain climates. Applied climatology, bioclimatology. Extreme climate events. Microclimate and local climate. Climatic maps. Long-term climate variability and change.

identification of soil units and their components; using field and laboratory research methods; indicating optimal using of the soils.

Content:

Lecture: Place of the soil in the ecosystem. Soil-forming factors. Three-phasic soil system, interphasic exchange and sorption. Main soil-forming processes and their conditioning. Soil profile as a recording of the environment functioning. Genetic and diagnostic soil horizons. Geographic variation of the soil cover. Taxonomic units of soil, Systematics of Polish Soils, international soil classifications. Soil degradation in time and space. Soil maps.

Laboratory: Particle size of the soils. Approximately particle size determination. Laboratory particle size analysis. Determination of granulometric composition by Casagrande method with modification by Prószyński. Determination of the soil solid phase density with pycnometer method and some physical properties with Kopecky method. Calcium carbonate in soil and methods for their determination. Determination of calcium carbonate by Scheibler method. The methods of the organic matter determination. Determination of organic carbon content by Tiurin method. Macronutrients and micronutrients in soil. Determination of the iron in soil with Zimmermann-Reinhardt method. Soil reaction (pH) and acidity of soil. Determination of soil hydrolytic acidity by Kappen method.

the problems concern the protection of copyright law and neighbouring rights; the basic concepts and attributes of industrial property (subjects of industrial property, subjective right, Patent Office of the Republic of Poland). The notion of work (cartographic work, computer programme, research work, data base). Copyright law, infringement of the law (plagiarism, piracy), subjects of industrial property and legal protection (exclusive right). The role of industrial property law in onomic activity; application documents. Protection of the computer programme and data base in Poland and in EU.
