Aims:

 


Providing knowledge about the subject of research in developmental psychology, the key concepts and theories of mental development, shaping the basic schemes of thinking about the phenomenon of psychological development, learning the ways of diagnosing mental functions

Prerequisites:

 


Basic from the area of general psychology, biomedical foundations of human development.

 

Course content:

 

 



 

 


Nature of developmental changes (quantity - quality, continuity - non-continuity, focus - lack of focus, partiality-global nature, specificity of development areas, etc.).

Mechanisms of forming development changes (heredity-environment      and growing-up-acquiring experience; genes and the environment during lifetime). Versatility and prescriptivism, and a uniqueness and individuality of changes in the human's mental development

Development as a process of multi-dimensional and multi-directional changes, taking place throughout the life in dependence on the individual and environmental resources which an individual has in their active

interactions with the environment.

Basic development tendencies and achievements in particular periods of life in the scope of the development of perceptual and mental processes.

Selected theories of the child's cognitive development

Basic development tendencies and achievements in particular periods of life in the emotional-motivational development.

The basic development tendencies and achievements in particular periods of life in the scope of socio-moral development.

Attachment, empathy, social roles.

Selected theories of personality development.

Selected theories of socio-moral development: in psychoanalysis, learning theory, the theory of social roles and cognitive-developmental concepts.

Selected issues related to an unusual course of psychological development.

Deregulation of the social life cycle and psychological development of an individual: a social approach to the study of human development; a role of the family and the peer group (at different ages of life) in shaping changes in different areas of functioning and development of an individual, especially socio-emotional and psychosexual.
