Oto opinia Diliany Grozdanowej na temat DSB, nie jest zachwycona, jako można się domysleć. Wyklucza DSB z ewentualnej koalicji prawicowej.

Diliana Grozdanova is a NMS MP and deputy leader of the Union of Free Democrats. She was a member of the BG delegation at the forum of right-wing parties in Budapest where she came instead of the party's leader leader Stefan Sofianski who is banned from leaving Bulgaria. Being a seasoned TV journalist, Diliana Grozdanova dashed forward to defend her party from the attacks launched by Ivan Kostov and his new political formation - Democrats for Strong Bulgaria. They didn't want an agreement, Grozdanova claims. This is not true, we are ready to coalesce, countered MP Dr. Vassil Panitsa, who is the member of the DSB leadership.

- Mrs. Grozdanova, how did the Union of Free Democrats assessed the forum of right-wing parties in Budapest?

- The developments took the expected course. We haven't signed the final joint declaration, as the hosts from the European People's Party were planning. However, I feel content. I'm hopeful that now the talks among the right-wing formations, with the exclusion of the DSB, will move from a standstill. Apparently, the party of Ivan Kostov is not willing to negotiate.

- Why aren't they? Isn't it because they set the requirement that you should leave the parliamentary group of the NMS?

- I don't see it as my problem. The bigger problem is whether the people of Kostov will leave the parliament. These MPs were elected from the ticked of the UDF, while the splinter group they formed has serious controversies with the "blue" party. This is nothing but the change of vote, against which Ivan Kostov spoke up vehemently all the time. So, to focus the talks on me is simply preposterous. I'm not going to yield to pressure and leave the parliament just because someone wants me to. I do not think that Kostov is in a position to set the requirements.

- According to the latest polls by the NPOC, though, the DSB will for sure be represented in the next parliament, while the prospects of the Union of Free Democrats are open to doubt?

- The surveys by NPOC also show that the BSP now is very close to the absolute majority support. This means that if the wish of the DSB for early elections comes true, it will be the socialists who will have the absolute majority. There are some warm feelings between the party of Kostov and the BSP. The socialist party will rule, the DSB will be the unbound opposition, and no other elements will be in their way. Evidently, this is what both parties want. However, the voters will have their final say if this is for the good of Bulgaria.

- Would you agree that the present model of rule was almost a complete failure in Sofia?

- All parties with the exception of the DSB share the opinion that the coalition in Sofia is not a failure but a favorable sign for Bulgaria.

- It looks like there is a battle between
Kostov and Sofianski for the leader's post in the right specter. Was this the reason why Mr. Sofianski has recently spoke so often about the caretaker government of which he was the prime minister? Does he want to be seen as an equal to Kostov?

- I don't think that Mr. Sofianski would like to lay the stress on exactly this fact. But all claims that so far there was only one reform-minded government in Bulgaria and that was the government led by Kostov, are simply ungrounded. It is more important to assess the future situation correctly. And to send messages to the voters that will have a pull on them instead of repelling them. No one would like to be a member of a squabbling family.

- The fact is that
Kostov again comes to the fore asserting himself as the right-wing leader. Even you admitted that the presence of the DSB in Budapest was a success because they foresaw the developments?

- Well, if one feels happy at the sight of the others' unhappiness... I can see that Mr.
Kostov keeps smiling and is apparently in a good mood. But when you feel pleased because the others are in a tight corner, then what kind of voters are you going to attract? And why do we have to conclude an agreement when they do not want any, neither with the Union of Free Democrats nor with the Union of Democratic Forces. Otherwise, we have repeatedly said that we are ready to coalesce with the other right-wing formations.
